I was delighted when the gorgeous Leslie Rosenberg took one of my hats back home to the U.S. Most of my American visitors come into ‘hatsbyjean and absolutely adore my hats but tell me that “hats aren’t worn in the States”….poor them!
But now and then a fashion savvy lady will break the mould – just like Leslie.

I love getting a photo and feedback from my clients after the big event. At this stage I’ve built up a lovely album of photos, cards (and complements). It’s always great to see the final picture – everyone blissfully happy when all the preparation, the apprehension and the worry become a thing of the past.

Enniskerry village has a lovely mix of shops nestled together offering everything from trinkets to treasures, fashion and of course fascinators. One of my ‘village neighbours’ Jenny Turner stocks the most stunning designer brands so needless to say I was delighted when she asked me to make her a hat for a recent wedding.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that one of my hats would be introduced to the world’s most famous woman – Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Well that’s exactly what happened (well it’s almost exactly what happened!). A lovely client of mine ‘Debbie Houghton’ was introduced to the Queen during a reception in the Mansion House in London during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on June 5, 2012 – and you guessed it – she was wearing one of my hats!!
Debbie sent me this photo of her (and my hat) greeting the Queen and a lovely message;
‘Hello Jean,
I wanted to send you this photo which was taken at the Mansion House at the Lord Mayor’s event for the Queens Diamond Jubilee.
I’m very happy to tell you I had numerous people, men and women admire and tell me how beautiful my hat was. I lost count after 20.
I was extremely proud to be wearing such a beautiful piece.
My hairdresser (from Harrods) also adored it.

My son Ross’s ‘Susie’ and my son Ben’s ‘Jenny’ looking stunning at My niece’s wedding – Suzanne Condron & Gary Quinn – in Donegal last weekend. A ‘hat by Jean’ was compulsory for the family – naturally! I’ll post ‘mothers of the bride & groom’s hats’ when I get clearance ;)
